Bolognese

This delicious sauce is perfect for a fast, week night dinner.

Try it over a baked potato or brown rice pasta for a complete meal!

You need:

  • 2 lb ground meat

  • ½ tbsp olive oil

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 cup carrots, chopped

  • 1 cup celery, chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ cup mushrooms, chopped

  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped

  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes

  • 1 can tomato paste

  • ½ tbsp basil

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ cup coconut milk or other milk of choice, or ¼ cup cream

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Step by step

  1. Brown the ground meat in a large pan.

  2. Remove the meat from the pan and add the oil, onion, carrots, and celery. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often.

  3. Add the garlic, mushrooms, and bell pepper and cook for about 3 minutes.

  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, garlic powder and the meat back into the pan.

  5. Cover and let cook for about 15-20 minutes. Add in the milk or cream and salt and pepper.
